Beautiful vintage sterling silver butterfly brooch with abalone inlay. Marked Hecho en Mexico 925 with Taxco assay number and tested positive for sterling silver.
The abalone shell wings have vibrant iridescent colors — blues, greens, purples — that shift in the light. Classic Mexican craftsmanship with great detail and character.
Condition: Overall good vintage condition with light age-related wear. One wing shows a fine surface crack that is stable and not distracting. Light polishing was done to identify the maker's mark while leaving some natural character. Pin clasp is secure and in working order.
